1. How does the system work?
A buried wire carries a harmless digital radio signal around a boundary that you and your DogWatch pet containment expert have designed together. Your dog wears a small receiver on his collar that identifies the boundary and warns him when he gets too close.

2. Is it an electric fence?
No! The system uses Digital FM technology. The receiver collar emits audio warning to alert your dog when he gets too close to the boundary, then stimulation, but it is safe for you and your family.

3. Will it hurt my dog?
If it did, we would not sell it! The stimulation is only strong enough to reinforce your dog’s good behavior. The idea is to create a barrier that your dog cannot get through. In other words, DogWatch relies on training and your dog’s natural responsiveness to aversive avoidance conditioning. The sensation is similar to that which you receive when you drag your feet across carpeting and then touch a metal object.

4. How does my dog learn to use it?
We have experienced trainers who use DogWatch’s highly effective behavior modification training program. Every DogWatch system is sold with training included. Your involvement in training is strongly encouraged.

5. How old does my dog have to be?
Your dog should be approximately 4 months or older. However, every dog is different. Our experienced trainers will evaluate your puppy and recommend a training schedule.

9. Will this work inside of my house too?
Yes. If you would like to keep your dog out of certain areas of your home, or off of the furniture, there is an indoor version of the transmitter, which will work with the same receiver collar.

12. How long do the batteries last?
The receiver battery in the R8 will last approximately two years. The battery in the R7 needs replacing every 6 months.

Top
13. Does the system have both internal and external grounded lightning protection?
Yes. Your properly installed DogWatch System has external and internal lightning protection.

Top
14. Does the receiver give an audible warning before correction?
Yes. All DogWatch receivers give audible warnings before corrections.

Top
15. Is the audible warning a time delay or distance delay?
The R7 and R8 collars work on both a time and distance delay. This means that the system will give about two feet of audible warning before the dog gets a correction. This gives your dog a chance to retreat into the yard before actually getting a correction. However, if your dog is willing to challenge frequently by attempting to just stand in the audible warning zone, your system will give a correction after approximately 10 seconds of audible warning. This time delay extends the battery life while teaching a persistent dog to respect the system.

16. While containing my pet, can you keep him/her out of the flowers or pool?
Yes. We customize the containment area allowing our pet to have as much room to run as possible, while keeping your pool, gardens, or most any other area that you choose, off limits.

17. Can I take my dog out of my yard?
Yes. After initial training, our trainer will come back in about 6 weeks to teach your dog how to walk out of the yard. Until then it is important to follow the instructions given to you by the trainer about how to take him/her out of the yard.
